Fear of the Lord

Taste and see that the Lord is good…
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him…
Fear the Lord you His saints…
We are called to trust and believe in these foundational admonitions as we live out our lives on this earth.
To ensure that we are grounded and secure in our understanding of whom the Lord is that we serve.
We are also exhorted to teach the children the fear of the Lord !
For the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
I believe that one of the greatest short comings of the modern day church is that we do not understand the fear of the Lord. And if we have lost it the children most certainly have not been instructed !

May the instruction begin:
The fear of the Lord – let us begin with our awe and reverence for the Lord’s majesty, His power, His holiness, His righteousness, His grace, His mercy, His lovingkindness….
For He is our Almighty God, our Creator, our Redeemer, He is our Salvation, He is our Truth, He is our Life, He is our Sustainer, He is our Provider, He is our Fortress, He is our Refuge, He is our God…
He is Faithful and True.

And let us continue with the Names of our God –
Elohim – the Creator
El Elyon – the God Most High
El Roi – the All-sufficient One
Adonai – Lord, Master
Yahweh – Lord Jehovah
Jehovah-jireh – The Lord will provide
Jehovah-rapha – the Lord that heals
Jehovah-nissi – The Lord my banner
Jehovah-mekoddishkem – the Lord who sanctifies you
Jehovah-shalom – the Lord is peace
Jehovah-sabaoth – the Lord of Hosts
Jehovah-raah – the Lord my Shepherd
Jehovah-tsidkenu – the Lord our Righteousness
Jehovah-shammah – the Lord is there
El Olam – the Everlasting God

Bottom line: our nation, including the church, has lost its fear of the Lord…and do not be fooled and do not think that a price will not be paid…

May His remnant stand firm and be of good courage as we fear the Lord and take refuge in Him.

O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the LORD, you His saints;
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Psalm 34:8-11
