Thanksgiving...

May your Thanksgiving be blessed with thankfulness...

Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name… (Psalm 140:13)

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, I would exhort you to deeply ponder upon this verse from the Psalms.
Do we have an attitude of gratitude in all things, every day of our lives?
Do we give thanks to the Lord God our maker with all that is in within us?

I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.
(Psalms 9:1)

With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And in the midst of many I will praise Him.
(Psalms 109:30)

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His loving-kindness is everlasting.
(Psalms 118:1)

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-19)

His Glory

How much of His glory do we want in our life?

In a pastor's message the other day at a church that we visited he indicated
that, for the most part, we only want a little bit of His glory in our lives.
That we want just enough of His glory to be comfortable and have our faith be
stable. Not so much of His glory that our lives are changed and transformed -
for we fear change.

Yet, the Lord wants to fill us with His glory, to be overflowing vessels of His
glory, to have His glory shine so amazingly through our lives that people can't
help but see Him! And for His glory to so touch our lives that we are being
completely transformed into His image.

How much of His glory do you want in your life?

2 Cor 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the
Lord, the Spirit.

Ps 138:5
For great is the glory of the LORD.

Isa 60:1-3
Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon
you.  For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples;
But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. Nations will
come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.

Hab 2:14
For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the
waters cover the sea.

quote for ponderment

As long as you have the tiniest bit of spiritual impertinence, it will always reveal itself in the fact that you are expecting God to tell you to do a big thing, and all He is telling you to do is to "come."

The Lord of Glory -

The glory of Your power…
And the power of Your glory…
May Your glory shine powerfully this day that all may see
Transforming lives for eternity…

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory. (Isa 6:3)
Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God (Rev 19:1)

quote for the weak...

The wisdom of Proverbs shows us the way forward:
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
It might be too long to fit on a bumper sticker, but Proverbs shows us the way out of the mess we’ve gotten ourselves.  Wisdom proves it! History proves it!
Old Testament scholar W. McKane in his commentary on Proverbs makes this biting remark about righteousness exalting a nation: “A land gets the statesmen it deserves.”
