Lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, boastful pride of life

Lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, boastful pride of life - there it is all in a nutshell…why we struggle so much in this life of ours upon this earth. These three are so ingrained in our daily life that, for the most part, we don't see them, notice them nor even acknowledge their presence.
Because we walk in the flesh and not in the Spirit, we cannot and will not overcome them in our own power - no matter what anyone says or teaches! If it were so Jesus would not have had to come and suffer such a grave penalty to enable us to be victorious!
Only by His grace and His truth along with the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit are we overcomers.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25)

For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:8)

For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.  (Romans 8:5-8)

A world of darkness

We live in a world of darkness. Our rebellion makes it so. Only the Light can pierce the darkness of rebellion. And only the True Light of life can bring hope to those who are lost and living in the darkness. Without the Light there is no life. As darkness is the absence of  light so also is it the absence of life.
He is the light of the world, in His light is the fountain of life…Jesus is the Light and in Him is life. The Light has come and illuminates the darkness…setting the captives free.

Ps 18:28 For You light my lamp; The LORD my God illumines my darkness.

Isa 9:2 The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.

Ps 36:9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

Ps 112:4 Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous.

Ps 82:5 They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

Blessed be...

Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel,

Who alone works wonders.

And blessed be His glorious name forever;

And may the whole earth be filled with His glory.

Amen, and Amen.

(Psalm 72:18-19)
